Joanne Tindel Waters
Funeral service for Joanne Tindel Waters, age 83, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Following cremation, she will be laid to rest in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery at Elgin, OK.
Joanne Tindel Waters was born October 7, 1932 in Anadarko, OK, the daughter of John Homer Tindel and Cary Howell Tindel. She was preceded in death by both parents; sister, Betty Dixon; brother Gene Tindel and his wife Mary; granddaughter Kalynn Pena Sain.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Herman Charles Waters; son David C. Waters of Houston, Texas; daughter Debbie Waters of Chickasha; daughter Karee Cox and husband Calvin of Chickasha; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
After graduation from Chickasha High School in 1950, she attended Abilene Christian College where she met and married Herman Waters in 1954. She was a stay at home mom until her children were all in school. She then worked for the Mosley Company and later for her parents in their jewelry store as a clerk and bookkeeper. When they retired in 1973, she was a bookkeeper for Hicks-Crutcher Department Stores. In 1977, she went to work as a teller at Oklahoma National Bank, retiring after twenty-three years. She was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ since 1945.
