Janet Sue Whitmill

Funeral service for Janet Sue Whitmill, 75, of Chickasha, OK will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Bible Baptist Church.  Pastor Kim Hayes will officiate.

Janet Sue Whitmill was born the daughter of Vernon Grant and Goldie Witten Grant on August 14, 1942 in Detroit, MI.  She died on February 3, 2018 in Chickasha.

Sue moved to Kansas as a young girl and lived in Kansas City, KS where she attended Wyandotte High School and got her nurse training becoming a graduate nurse.  She worked as a labor and delivery nurse.  After meeting and marrying her husband, Edward L. Whitmill on October 15, 1960 in Kansas City, KS they started their family and Sue devoted herself to being a housewife and mother.  In 1977 she and her husband entered the mission field and spent 40 years in El Salvador and Mexico.  During this time they also did mission work in the United States serving the Hispanic population. She loved to teach. For the past two years Sue and her husband have lived in Chickasha where they continued serving. 

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Goldie Grant.

Sue is survived by her husband Edward L. Whitmill of Chickasha; daughter Julia Marie York (Kent) of Chickasha; son Stephen Grant Whitmill (Pam) of Nashville, TN; son Matthew Edward Whitmill (Nancy) of Mustang, OK; son Thomas Joseph Whitmill (Shana) of Moore, OK; son Daniel Michael Whitmill (Kristi) of Moore, OK; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Mission Fund.

Viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. only, on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at McRay Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Linda Joyce Leverett

Memorial service for Linda Joyce Leverett, age 74 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Sharon Baptist Church.  Dr.  Mike Butler will officiate.

Joyce was born August  29, 1943 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Maude and Milt Bruns.  Joyce passed on January 28, 2018 with her loving daughter by her side.  

Joyce graduated from Friend  School in 1961. High school sweethearts, Joyce and C. L., were married September 8, 1961 in Binger.  They spent the next 43 years together until his passing in 2004.

Joyce loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family.  Joyce loved her, golfing, gambling, dogs and camping.  She always took time to take care of friends and family in need.  She was the head of the bereavement at Sharon Baptist Church for many years.  She was always there to comfort those who needed it most.

She belonged to the Grady County Extension Home Makers and served on the Grady County Election Board.  Joyce was as a rural route mail carrier for 25 years.

 Joyce loved to travel to the sand and sun with her daughter Tracy for their birthdays.  The memories they share will be cherished always.

She was preceded in death by her parents Maude and Milt Bruns, brother Joe Bruns, and her precious husband C. L. Leverett.  Joyce is survived by her daughter Tracy Brown and husband Michael of Oklahoma City; sister DeAnna Farmer and husband Dwane of Adams; niece Glenda Friesen and husband Marlin of Adams; special friends Neil and Sharon O’Neal and  Pat and the late Bo Crawford of Chickasha; a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends; bonus daughters Sheila Sala of Shawnee, Patti Chester of Houston and Denise Grant of Tuttle.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Friends Fur Change, 1801 Carolina, Chickasha, OK, 73018 or a charity of your choice in honor of Joyce Leverett.

We also want to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sommerset Neighborhood and Assisted Living, as well as Crossroads Hospice for taking such amazing care of Joyce.

We would like that anyone attending the funeral for Joyce wear bright colors to celebrate her life.

Cremation and memorial service are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Ricky Lynn Willis

Funeral service for Ricky Lynn Willis, age 64 of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Verden First Baptist Church.  Rev. David Bradley will officiate.

Ricky was born the son of Charlie Willis and Virginia Crain Willis on July 30, 1953 in Anadarko, Oklahoma.  He died on January 28, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ricky lived in Verden all his life and graduated from Verden High School.  He attended college at Cameron University in Lawton.  Ricky farmed and raised cattle his whole life.  When he wasn’t working, he was at the coffee shop.  He served on the Verden City Council.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Virginia Willis.

Survivors include his sister and brother in law Sherry and Richard Smith of Yukon; nephew  Anthony and Devin Smith and their children; nephew Aaron and Misty Smith and their children; niece Christy and Billy Kruchten and their children; numerous other family.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery.  Service is under the direction of McRay Funeral Home, Chickasha.
