Delores P. Kennedy

Graveside funeral service for Delores P. Kennedy, 94, will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 in Comanche, Oklahoma, Fairlawn Cemetery. Viewing will be from 9:00am until 7:00pm, Monday, October 13, 2025 at McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Delores P. Kennedy, a woman of grace, faith, and quiet strength, went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1931 to Melvin Sims and Arlene Biesecker Sims of Anna, Illinois.

Delores lived her life guided by love—love for her family, her faith, and her community. After graduating from high school in 1947, she attended Champaign Beauty School, earning her certification in December of 1948. On April 30, 1949, she married the love of her life, Master Sergeant Charles E. Kennedy, in Urbana, Illinois. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with love and devotion.

Through Charles's years of service in the United States Air Force, Delores embraced the life of a military wife with grace and determination. She traveled the world with him—from Greenville, South Carolina; to Wiesbaden, Germany; and Ankara, Turkey. When Charles retired from the Air Force in 1966, they settled in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and later made homes in Burkburnett, Texas; Comanche, Oklahoma; and Marlow, Oklahoma.

After Charles's passing, Delores returned to Chickasha in 1986. She devoted herself to caring for others, working as a health aide and earning her certifications as both a CNA and CMA while serving at Glen Haven Nursing Home. She later made her home in Minco, Oklahoma, where she continued to live a life of quiet service and compassion.

Faith was the cornerstone of Delores's life. She was a devoted member of Southern Oaks Church of Christ and later Minco Church of Christ, where she found purpose in serving others. She delighted in preparing meals for church gatherings, funeral dinners, and Golden Agers events—always giving of herself with a generous heart. She loved her bible study groups, her Ladies' Bible Blass, and her church family deeply.

Those who knew Delores will forever remember her for her kindness and her famous home cooking. Her coconut cream pie, cookies, and cakes brought joy to every family gathering. For every birthday, she made it her mission to ask what each loved one wanted and to bake it with love.

Delores's love continues on through her family: her daughters, Sharon Jones of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Sue McComas and husband Kevin of Minco, Oklahoma; her son Scott Kennedy and wife Laura of Marlow, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; her sister Mary Kay Nofftz; sister-in-law Gail Sims; brother John Sims; and many nieces, nephews and extended family who loved her dearly.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Charles E. Kennedy, daughter Sara Brady, grandsons Shawn Brady and JR McComas, brothers Frank Sims and Bob Sims, sisters Wilma Fournier and Betty Owens, and other cherished family members who now welcome her home in Heaven.

Her life was a testament to quiet faith, enduring love, and the beauty of a servant's heart. Delores's selfless love and her unwavering devotion will live forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
