Obituary

Doris Virginia Petitt

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Doris Virginia (Paxton) Petitt, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at age 79.

Doris was born on June 10, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo to John Mulick and Dorothy (Walker) Mulick. After moving from Kansas City to El Reno, Oklahoma as a teenager, she met Terry Ray Petitt at Falls Creek camp. The two became good friends and later started dating. At Christmas, 1960, she and Terry announced their engagement. Doris then graduated from El Reno Highschool in the spring of 1961, and married Terry on August 11, 1961 in El Reno, Ok. From this union, they raised three children, daughters Theresa Rae (Petitt) Garner, Traci Dawn (Petitt) Poe, and son Bryce David Petitt.

Doris had a passion for her Lord and Savior, as well as a love for people. Her greatest joy was spreading the Gospel and spending time bringing others closer to God.  Always quick to volunteer at Bible Baptist Church, Doris continued to enjoy services and bible studies until unable to physically attend. Doris was a skillful seamstress, baker, and homemaker. Many days, and nights, were filled with love, laughter, and delicious aromas as Doris showed her love through cooking for her family and friends.

Doris is preceded in death by her father, John Mulick, mother Dorothy (Walker) Paxton, sister Marianna Korn, and brother Roy Mulick. She is survived by her husband Terry Petitt, daughter and son-in-law Theresa and Terry Wayne Garner and their children Ethan Garner, Zachary and Kaylan Garner, Seth Garner, and Hannah Garner; daughter and son-in-law Traci and Rob Poe, and their children Carter and Meredith Poe, Olivia Poe, Nicholas Hubbell, Walker Poe, and Emma and Andrew Roy; and son and daughter-in-law Bryce and Jessica Petitt, and their children Logan Petitt, Hayden and Bethany Petitt, and Kaelan Petitt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Casket Bearers for Doris are her grandsons, Hayden, Zachary, Ethan, Carter, Nicholas, Seth, and Walker.
