Edilynn Card
Funeral services for Edilynn Card, 86, of Chickasha, Ok will be held at 10:30am, Friday, May 27, 2022 at College Heights Baptist Church, officiated by Bryan Haynes.
Edilynn Turner Card was born November 13, 1935, to Robert Edward "Ed" Turner and Opal Askins Turner in Duncan, Oklahoma. Edilynn was an only child but by the number of friends, cousins and her horse Tippy, you'd have never known. She passed peacefully from this earth on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
Edilynn graduated from Duncan High School and attended The University of Oklahoma. While there she pledged and joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. While on campus she met a dashing young man, who just so happened to wear a Navy ROTC uniform. Edilynn married Billy Don Card on August 29, 1954. After a short time in Norman, they moved to Duncan to settle down. Bill started working at the First National Bank and Edilynn began working at the Duncan Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed working there until Donny was born. Family and motherhood was her calling and desire in life. She brought three children into this world, Billy Don Card Jr., Robert Clair Card and Marilyn Card (Holt). In June of 1972 Bill took a job with the First National Bank of Chickasha and moved the family there to make their home in Chickasha. Edilynn was involved with the local panhellenic organization and the Sorosis Study Club of Chickasha. She loved serving others, her community and church. Edilynn was a beloved and active member of College Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult 2 Sunday School Class and Oasis. She loved visiting with her family, friends, neighbors and shut-ins from the church. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bridge. Edilynn was an avid gardener, with a love for flowers; being in her backyard was her happy place. Bill and Edilynn loved traveling to Sante Fe, NM and spending time at Grand Lake.
Edilynn was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Opal Turner, and the love of her life, Bill, in 2017.
She is survived by her children: Billy Don Card, Jr. (DeNean Woolstenhulme) of Wenatchee, WA; Robert Clair Card (Dana Hodge) of Chickasha, and Marilyn Card Holt (Terry Holt) of Chickasha. Her grandchildren include Ethan Card, Galen Card, Caleb Card, Taryn Card, April Belew, Billy Holt and Emily Parr. She also had eighteen great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
