Harold Edward McDaniel
Funeral for Harold Edward McDaniel will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Viewing will be at McRay Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9am to 7pm with the family present from 4pm to 5pm to greet friends.
Harold Edward McDaniel of Chickasha was born on June 3, 1941, in Cox City, Oklahoma, to Corbia and Fairy May (Kimbro) McDaniel. He passed from this life on Friday, June 26, 2026, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Harold grew up in the Mustang area and graduated from Mustang High School in 1959. He earned a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in counseling from Southeastern State College in 1963 and later completed a master's degree in education administration from the University of Oklahoma. He married Ruth Ann Rushing on August 17, 1963. Together, they made their home in several communities in Texas and Oklahoma, spending the majority of their lives in Velma, Frederick, and Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Clyde McDaniel, Reaford McDaniel, and James McDaniel; and a stillborn sister Vera McDaniel.
Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Ann McDaniel of the home; his children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
His children are: Michael McDaniel and wife Shawna of Cement, Oklahoma; Steven McDaniel and wife Taylor of Norman, Oklahoma; Jaqueline Green of Wichita Falls, Texas; His grandchildren and great-grandchildren are: Britney and Jerod Wilkins and their children, Breanna, Parx, and Ella; Tayla and Mikey Brenner and their children, Jett and Indy; Talon and Rebecca Reynolds and their children, Lenix and Halle; Ally McDaniel; Callie and Grant Shoemaker and their children, Sutton and Billie; Lauren and Jeff Avena; Trey and Rachel Cabbiness; Cale Cabbiness; Laney McDaniel; Cason Cabbiness; and Ashlee and Frank Harrison.
Harold's life was guided by his faith, his love for his family, and his quiet strength of character. He was a devoted husband to Ruth Ann, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather whose steady presence, wisdom, and care left a lasting mark on all who knew and loved him.
Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, Oklahoma at 3pm on Wednesday.
Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
