Jimmy Gale Dyer
A private memorial for Jimmy Gale Dyer, 86 of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held by family and friends later.
Jimmy was born on December 30, 1939, in Decatur, Texas to Elmer and Edith (Mayhugh) Dyer and passed away from this life on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Chickasha.
Jimmy grew up most of his life in Stecker, Oklahoma and attended and graduated from Broxton High School in 1958. He married Eunice Sawyer in the summer of 1959. With this union were born three beautiful children: Stanley, Diane and Robert.
After high school he worked at Arrow Commander in Oklahoma City which led him to his journey in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was trained to build and repair airplanes. While there he received his private pilot license. His working career was filled with various professions. He was a "jack-of-all trades" which included farming, trucking and fabrication.
Around 1977 he met and started dating Maxine (Pitts) Alexander. They were married on the cold and wintery day of December 26, 1983, in Nicona, Texas. For many years they owned and operated Maxine's Springcrest Draperies in Chickasha, Oklahoma, making many custom draperies and upholsteries all throughout the surrounding areas. They enjoyed camping and going to the lakes, attending OU Football games and tailgating, raising beautiful gardens, chickens and many loving pets. The last few years were peacefully spent retiring together at their little farmhouse in Friend.
Those preceded in death are his loving wife, his parents, both sons, brother and sister-in-law Roscoe and Donna Dyer of Dodge City, Kansas, and two great-great grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter Diane Castro and grandson Dalin of Oklahoma City, Granddaughter Karen (Dyer) Harvey and great grandson Justin of Jenks, Oklahoma and grandson Kevin Dyer of Ozark, Missouri, stepchildren Alan and Charlotte Alexander, Dickie Alexander, Gina and Glenn Snedeker and Kent Alexander all of Chickasha, his sister Freda and her husband Paul Phillips of Oklahoma City, (10) grandchildren, (11) great grandchildren and (2) great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
