Obituary

John "Royce" Hannah

John "Royce" Hannah passed away in his home at 2:17 AM on May 18, 2025. Royce was born in San Angelo, Texas, to parents John Roy and Orvellia Hannah on July 15, 1960. Royce was just a few months old when the Hannah family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where he resided for the remainder of his days. Royce was a hard worker and began his first job at age 6, putting bikes together at Christmas for Otasco, where his father also worked. Later, when he was in high school, he began working at DeHart Air Conditioning. He attended Chickasha High School, where he excelled in band and served as a drum major his senior year.

Royce met the love of his life, Lisa Leaverton, during high school through the band program. They had started dancing in 1979 at Lee Paramore's dance studio as partners who competed in disco and demonstrated for Country and Western dancing classes. Together, they were the South West Regional Disco Champions in 1980. He married Lisa Leaverton in 1983 at College Heights Baptist Church. In December of 1984, he went to work for Ben Milam Heat Air and Electric and on April 16, 2004, he bought the company from Ben Milam.

Royce had been a member of College Heights Baptist Church beginning in 1986. There he was saved at age 23 and later on became a deacon. Royce served in many capacities over the years at College Heights. He was a member of the choir and praise team, hung the Christmas lights on the church for many years, and played on the College Heights softball team. He served on numerous committees through the church, including the finance committee, the Mercy Meals team, & kids choir teacher. He later followed Gods call to First Baptist of Anadarko where he has enjoyed meeting and fellowshipping with new friends and another wonderful church family.

He was heavily involved in his daughters' extracurricular activities, from coaching soccer and basketball to fletching arrows for the archery team. He really enjoyed spending time with his family skiing, camping with the Chickasha Camping Club, fishing for trout and catfish, and dancing with his wife, Lisa. Royce, Lisa, and the boys would take off in the RV and go exploring new states they hadn't visited before. One of the places they often returned to was Roman Nose State Park for some trout fishing. They often spent summers out at the lake water skiing, tubing, and catfishing with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Roy & Orvellia Hannah of Chickasha, Oklahoma; in-laws, Erwin and Thelma Joan Leaverton of Edmond, Oklahoma;  and brother-in-law, Michael Leaverton of Pearland, Texas.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lisa Hannah of the home; daughter and husband, Elizabeth & Dustin Holt of Moore, Oklahoma; daughter and husband, Ashley & Tyler Faulkner of Moore, Oklahoma; his little buddies, Bandit and Smokey Hannah of the home; sister, Lisa Mongold of Chickasha, Oklahoma; nephew and wife, Alex and Jessica Sikes of Duncan, Oklahoma; niece, husband, and great-nephew Amanda & Terry Farley & Lucas Davis of Chickasha, Oklahoma; niece & nephew, Mikayla and J.D Leaverton of Pearland, Texas; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 22nd at College Heights Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Amber Cemetery.
