Funeral service for Melvin Carol Fenimore, age 87, will be at 2:00pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Southern Baptist Chapel in Alex, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in the Alex Cemetery. Dusty Ricks will officiate.

Melvin C. Fenimore was born on August 29, 1937, in Agawam, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. Melvin proudly served in the United States Army from July 6, 1960, until his honorable discharge and early release from overseas duty on June 21, 1962. He carried his sense of duty and discipline with him throughout his life, earning the respect of all who knew him. On August 29th 1964, Melvin married Glenda Williams in Alex, Oklahoma and celebrated 60 years together. Melvin attended Middleberg School and graduated in 1954. He was a school board member for 12 years. He and Glenda chaperoned many an 8th graduation trip. Melvin dedicated much of his life to hard work, spending his career at Macklanburg-Duncan and Delta Faucet, where he retired as a shipping and receiving foreman. Retirement didn't quite stick. He went on to work at the Grady County Assessor's Office, proving that keeping busy was simply in his nature. He was a long-time basketball referee and enjoyed being part of the game just as much as he enjoyed calling the fouls. Melvin was a devoted Oklahoma Sooners fan, proudly holding season tickets to football since 1977. He rarely missed a game and cherished attending with his daughter and football buddy Susan. He also had season tickets to men's and women's basketball and had a good time attending with his wife Glenda. Family outings to Broken Bow were filled with storytelling, laughter, and a few good-natured tall tales. He also had a fondness of hunting and always looked forward to the annual pheasant hunting trip with his brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Ima Fenimore; his brothers W.M., Jack, and Barty Fenimore; and his sisters Glenda Roddy and Cleta Rakestraw. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Fenimore of the home; daughter, Susan Fenimore of Blanchard; brothers Floyd Fenimore of Mustang and Elbert Fenimore of Harrisburg, PA; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Also surviving him are his precious rescue dog, Ellie, and his grand dog, Pixie.

Melvin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet humor, loyal heart, and deep devotion to the people and animals he loved. Whether on the farm, in the stands at a Sooners game, or relaxing at home with family, he lived a full and meaningful life that made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
