Richard "Rick" Daniel Lasseter
Funeral service for Rick Lasseter, age 79, of Chickasha will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Ron Blankinship will officiate.
Richard Daniel Lasseter, affectionately known to many as Rick, Hollywood, Swinging Slinging, or Swimming Rick, passed away peacefully at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on September 15, 2026, at the age of 79. Rick was born on March 7, 1947, in Nocona, Texas, to RH and Becky Lasseter. His father worked in the oil fields, so the family moved to Cement, Oklahoma, before making their way to Chickasha where Rick found a community he loved deeply and called home for the rest of his life. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1965. Rick was a true people person. In Rick's world, there was no such thing as a stranger. Whether he had known someone for years or had just met them moments before, he was ready to talk, laugh, and tell a story. His stories—especially about his beloved 1967 Chevy Camaro SS/RS—could keep people listening for hours. Rick spent 22 years working in management at Pet Incorporated. When the plant closed, he began a new chapter as a teacher and later served as Athletic Director at Chickasha High School. Rick loved Chickasha, and he especially loved supporting its kids, schools, and sports. Outside of work, Rick was happiest living the country life on the farm. He loved horses, western movies, antiques, and traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Yellowstone. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—good conversation, good stories, and, perhaps most importantly, a good dessert. At the center of Rick's life was his beloved wife and soulmate, Connie Lasseter. Rick and Connie shared 37 years together, building a life rooted in love, companionship, and laughter. As Rick's health began to deteriorate, Connie devoted herself to caring for him. She stood beside him through every challenge, providing him with unwavering love, patience, strength, and comfort. And when Rick took his final breath, Connie was exactly where she had always been—by his side, holding his hand. Connie's love was one of the greatest gifts he carried with him throughout his years. Rick's life was also defined by lifelong friendships and meaningful relationships. Among his closest longtime friends were Darwin Dee Clark, Bob Powers, and Neil Perrin, along with countless other friends. Above all else, Rick loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Lasseter; daughters Stephani Lasseter Haslam and Courtney Dunigan, and her husband, Ricky Dunigan; daughter-in-law Jennifer Lasseter Amos; brother Steve Lasseter; grandchildren Lauren , Corric, Aubree, AnnaKate, Nadia, and Sasha; great-grandson Layson; and numerous extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, RH and Becky Lasseter; sons, Joel Lasseter and Eric Lasseter; sister-in-law, Maria Lasseter; and lifelong friend, Neil Perrin. Rick leaves behind much more than memories. He leaves behind stories that will continue to be told, and a family and community forever shaped by his presence. Rick will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of the Chickasha community.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
