Roberta June Singleton Smith

Roberta June Singleton Smith was born on June 14, 1937, in Dutton, Oklahoma, to Walter Grant Singleton and Myrtle Ada Bell Shook Singleton. She grew up in Verden, Oklahoma, where she graduated high school. On June 26, 1956, Roberta married the love of her life, Donnie Dale Smith. Together, they built a life grounded in love, strong faith, and family. They lived in Chickasha, Yukon, and Verden, Oklahoma, eventually raising their family in the Verden area. Their home was a place filled with prayer, laughter, hard work, cherished memories, and the love of Christ.

Roberta began her working career in a newspaper office in Anadarko and later worked at the Bank of Verden. Never one to stop learning, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1982 and her Master's Degree in 1984. She went on to teach Home Economics at Gracemont and Verden High Schools, where she was admired for her dedication to her students, her servant heart, and her Christ-centered example. A devoted member of Verden Baptist Church, Roberta lived her faith daily. She found joy in reading scripture, serving her church, and uplifting others through prayer, kindness, and generosity. Her relationship with Jesus was the cornerstone of her life, and she passed that faith down to her family.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donnie Smith; her parents, Walter and Myrtle Singleton; her sister, Reba Flood; and her brother, Richard Singleton.

She is survived by her children, Lynn Dale Smith of Chickasha, Lecrecia Schmidt of Oklahoma City, Leann Sanders of Lawton, and Lanese Embrey of Chickasha; brother, Larry Singleton of Pocasset and sister Rojena Bare of Minco. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of love, faith, and strength will continue to live on through each of them.

Roberta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Verden Baptist Church in Verden, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Verden Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roberta's remarkable, faith-filled life.
