Obituary

 Sharon Lynn "Sherrie" Franklin

Sharon Lynn Franklin was born to Bettye Jeanne and Jerry Ray Brinkley, Jr. on August 26, 1948 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She passed away on November 9, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Sherrie spent most of her childhood in Ponca City, Oklahoma, but moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma when she was 16 years old, and graduated from high school there in 1966. She started her college career at Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, but later transferred to East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1971. She later graduated from OU School of Law with a Legal Assistant Certification. In 1979 she married James Danny Franklin in Ardmore. She had a career of more than 25 years in the cooling tower industry where she started as a Project Manager in charge of the construction of concrete cooling towers for Tower Tech. She had the opportunity to travel across the United States from job site to job site until 1999 when, at James' request, she put away her traveling clothes and went to work for Midwest Towers, now Midwest Cooling Towers, here in Chickasha. She wore many different hats—starting as an Administrative Assistant in the sales department, moving to a component salesperson, and finally to Customer Service Manager/Project Manager.

Sherrie had many interests. As a young woman she bowled in a league. She played golf, and went trout fishing with her Daddy and her son, Danny Ray. She loved to watch Hunter play baseball and watch Kaylee dance and shoot archery. She took an active role in whatever her kids were doing. She always said that her greatest accomplishment was raising her boys to love the Lord and respect other people. She loved to travel—anywhere, and reading was her relaxation—especially legal fiction. Sherrie was also involved in the community as a member and Past President of the Chickasha Kiwanis Club.

Sherrie was raised Assembly of God and she was saved in an Assembly of God church in Ponca City when she was nine years old. She never gave up the beliefs of her childhood, but she and James settled into a wonderful Baptist church where she was active in the choir and the pastor preached the Word of God. Her favorite Scripture was Isaiah 40:31, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint." She always said it was her faith in God that brought her through the darkest days in her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Danny Franklin; parents Jerry Ray Brinkley, Jr. and Bettye Jeanne Brinkley; and son Danny Ray Franklin.

Sherrie is survived by her son Hunter James Franklin; step-daughter Stephanie Ann Hayes; granddaughters Kaylee Lynn Phillips and Saylehr Elizabeth Yandell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
