William E (Bill) Lee
Funeral Service for William E (Bill) Lee, age 84 of Chickasha, OK, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ building. Boyd Lee will officiate and Eddie Lee will assist, both of whom are sons of Bill.
Born in Lindsay, OK to WJ and Jimmie Lee, he later moved to and grew up in Bridge Creek, OK. He graduated from Blanchard High in 1959 and was married to the love of his life, Irene, on September 24, 1960. In August, 1961, he began his journey as a beloved and devoted dad to first son Boyd and then Eddie in April, 1964. His Lord and his family were the focal points of his life and he rarely failed to maintain and strengthen those relationships. He rarely missed a ballgame or school event of his boys and later his grandchildren, nor did he often miss a worship service to his Lord.
Bill was a muscled-up carpenter and home builder in the days of hammers and nails without air guns and shortcuts. In 1976 due to significant arthritis, he took a position as Head of Maintenance for the Amber-Pocasset Schools where he eventually retired in 2004. He was a devoted friend and mentor to hundreds of young people who grew up in the Am-Po School system and good friends with hosts of teachers and staff.
Regardless of his own desires, he tirelessly worked to meet the needs of others. He was appointed as an Elder with the Southern Oaks Church of Christ and served faithfully until the death of his beloved wife, Irene who passed from the effects of cancer and treatment. They were married for 46 years.
Bill later found love with a local Chickasha woman and friend from Church, Karen Plummer. They were married in October 2007 in a small ceremony at Southern Oaks. They lived on Grand Ave. in Chickasha for all but 1 year of their 16-year marriage. Karen passed in her sleep from natural causes in December 2023.
Bill is survived by two sons, Boyd and his wife Susie of Chickasha, Eddie and his wife Cindy of Blanchard, and five beautiful grandchildren, Josh and wife Jennifer, Kellie and husband John, Jay and wife Eilish, Shelby and husband Jess and Shannon and husband Taylor. He also leaves nine and soon to be 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are twin sisters Sue Turner of Tahlequah, Linda Kaplan of Cabot, Arkansas, one sister-in-law, Lorene Bridges of Blanchard, Doug and Kathy Plummer of Chickasha, their daughters Jennifer and Jessica, both of Chickasha, their children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.
