Willie Lee Lanoy was affectionately known for her fun-loving spirit and sense of humor. She passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, just one day shy of her 94 th birthday. Willie was born on April 24, 1931 in Coalgate, Oklahoma, to James White Palmer and Willie Kathryn Palmer. She grew up in Coalgate and completed her education through the eighth grade there. As a young girl, she worked as a waitress in her mother's cafes, where her strong work ethic and servant's heart began to shine.
At the age of 13, she met the love of her life, Clement Edward Lanoy, Sr. The two married when she was 17, and together they shared 25 years of marriage and raised three children: Clement Edward Lanoy, Jr. "Butch", Tommy Ray Lanoy, and Opal Lee Lanoy.
Willie enjoyed being a devoted homemaker while her children were young and later worked alongside her husband in the meat market. Her faith journey began when her oldest son "Butch" expressed a desire to go to school at age four, and a neighbor suggested taking him to Sunday School. That simple invitation led Willie to come to know the Lord as her Savior, and her faith remained strong throughout her life. She became an active member of her church, faithfully teaching the 8- and 9-year-old Sunday School Class and volunteering in Vacation Bible School for many years. Willie was a caregiver at heart. She lovingly cared for her own mother and others in their later years and took pride in helping raise her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren. Her family treasures countless memories of her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her daughter, Opal Lee Fitzwater, her grandchildren, Shane Fitzwater and wife Ellen- their children Hannah Wheeler and husband Josh; their children Teigan, Tatum, and Mavi, Samuel Fitzwater and wife Nicole and their daughter Abigail, and Leah Fitzwater, granddaughter Susie Lanoy, her children; Damon Lanoy, Jason Lanoy, and Dakota Lee Groom; granddaughter Cinda Marie Lanoy and her children: Mariah Magee, Taylor and Skylar Bautista and children, Elly and Nora Bautista; Alesha McAlister and child, Noah McAlister. Her children and grandchildren each held a special place in her heart.
Willie was preceded in death by her husband, Clement Edward Lanoy Sr.; her parents, James and Willie Palmer; her sons, Clement Edward Lanoy Jr. and Tommy Ray Lanoy; her grandson, Joseph Lee Fitzwater; her son-in-law, Willard Odell Fitzwater; and four sisters and two brothers.
Willie's legacy is one of faith, family, and a heart full of care for others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
